Pros

1. Is fully remote (distributed) 2. Has an amazing and inclusive culture that operates in practice 3. Pay and benefits are amazing 4. I have a fantastic team that I work with 5. Get to travel overseas 4-5 times per year 6. Great home setup with generous allowance for desk/chair and IT 7. Great level of autonomy to design the work for you (within reason) 8. Everyone is super helpful so can easily ask questions and they get answered, quickly too. 9. Genuine work/life balance culture and as someone from Europe working for a US company this was a fear of mine, glad to say they actively encourage time off

Kontras

1. Being fully remote is not for everyone 2. Need to be self-directed and take responsibility to get your work done, this is a company that treats you as adult to adult, therefore we assume responsibility for our work 3. You need pretty strong IT skills even if the role you are going for is non-IT 4. There is a lot to take in at the beginning and it can feel overwhelming (pro-tip hang in there and ask lots of questions - everyone is super helpful) 5. Has a flat structure in terms of career path opportunities but has huge growth for learning opportunities. I like that it is lacking in the typical hierarchal structure.

Pros

I had the opportunity to work alongside incredibly smart, talented, and kind colleagues who were always willing to share their knowledge. The role offered diverse and engaging technical challenges working with a wide range of customers, most of whom were pleasant to collaborate with. The company provided excellent health insurance and 401k benefits, which I genuinely appreciated. The yearly travel for team meetups was a highlight. It created valuable opportunities for team building and strengthened relationships across the distributed team.

Kontras

While unlimited PTO sounds attractive on paper, in practice it required careful coordination with team capacity and management, making it less flexible than expected. The culture inadvertently encouraged overworking, as people often forgot to actually take time off. Weekend on-call shifts, combined with a small team rotation, created real burnout risk. The most significant issue was the unexpected layoffs, which were extremely disruptive to team morale and productivity. The instability created by constant turnover ultimately became unsustainable and led to my decision to leave the company.
