Great company, people, benefits, perks and beautiful offices!

Culture has dramatically changed since covid. Leadership has taken a laissez faire approach to returning to the workplace and hasn't asked people to come back to the office. I like the flexibility but it has also had a negative impact on the workplace. Its hard to get to know people, grow and feel connected when everyone is remote. Even people that live a few miles away.

Our daily office environment has certainly changed over the past few years, and through Together @ AppFolio, our approach to a flexible, personal, connected workplace, our goal is to empower our teams to continue evolving what this looks like for them, and finding creative ways to connect with one another, even in a hybrid workplace. We will continue to encourage employees to spend time in the office for in-person collaboration and connection on certain days, such as Company Meeting, and for other community building events throughout the month. We are continuing to learn and improve in this space and and are committed to creating an even better hybrid work experience for our teams.

Frequent team outings and social events that help build relationships across the team. Generally a friendly, social environment!

The property management team is highly competitive when it comes to promotions, and I’ve seen BDRs remain in the same seat for years or eventually leave, as internal advancement opportunities can be limited. However, for top performers, there is promising upside, and you get to work with some of the best leaders in the organization. On the investment management team, leadership quality is more uneven, and there appears to be a lack of management experience, which has created gaps in coaching, accountability, and overall team development. As a result, performance outcomes have lagged, with the majority of BDRs and AEs struggling to consistently hit target. Team turnover has also been notably high, and leadership engagement only increased after a large portion of the team had already decided to leave, which by that point felt too late to rebuild morale or trust.
