Pros

Apollo Scientific is a genuinely great place to work if you're looking to build a strong, varied career in marketing or the wider chemical and life sciences industry. The people are incredibly welcoming, down-to-earth, and always happy to support or collaborate, making it a positive and friendly environment to grow in. The role itself is varied and fun – no two days are the same. From digital campaigns to content writing, design work, and even event planning, there's a broad mix of responsibilities that keep things fresh and exciting. It’s ideal for anyone looking to expand their skills quickly. There’s also a wide range of opportunities across departments and functions, so if you're ambitious and willing to get stuck in, it’s a brilliant place to learn and progress. The company is growing and evolving all the time, so you really feel like you're part of something meaningful.

Kontras

The fast-paced nature of the work is not for someone looking for a slow or repetitive day-to-day routine – but if you thrive on variety, you’ll love it here.

Pros

Some nice people, particularly those based in warehouse.

Kontras

The role was fundamentally misrepresented from the outset. It was advertised as a dynamic field sales position, promising autonomy and proactive engagement with clients. However, within just two weeks of joining, I was abruptly informed that the position would be strictly office-based-contradicting the very basis upon which I had accepted the offer. This bait-and-switch approach demonstrates a profound lack of integrity and respect for prospective employees. Upon joining, it became abundantly clear that the company is woefully unprepared to onboard new staff. There was a total absence of training or guidance on critical internal systems such as SAP, leaving new hires to fend for themselves. The lack of any structured onboarding material or support is not just negligent; it is indicative of a broader culture of incompetence. Performance management is equally farcical. There was no defined KPIs or objective metrics to gauge success. Instead, performance reviews are entirely subjective, creating an environment where favouritism and arbitrary judgment prevail over merit and results. The company’s dysfunction is not limited to one department. Years of inept management have created systemic issues across logistics, customer service, and sales. These problems are deeply embedded and perpetuated by a management team that is more interested in protecting itself than in driving improvement or accountability. The HR department is complicit in this toxic culture. Rather than supporting employees or fostering a healthy work environment, their primary function is to shield management from scrutiny. This has resulted in a climate of low morale, paranoia, and hostility, where employees are afraid to speak up or challenge the status quo. Knowledge within the company is hoarded by a small group of long-standing employees, many of whom have been with the business for over a decade. These individuals form a protected class, exempt from the scrutiny and oversight applied to new starters, simply because the business cannot function without their knowledge. This unhealthy dependency stifles innovation, discourages fresh perspectives, and ensures that underperformance among tenured staff goes unaddressed-one of the key reasons revenue has declined year after year, with no consequences for those responsible. In my professional experience, this is unequivocally the worst company I have ever worked for. The ongoing decline in performance and morale is a direct reflection of the company’s entrenched mismanagement and toxic culture.
