Pros

I worked with a lot of good people. I was in a group that allowed a great deal of work flexibility with respect to hours, telework days and independent decision-making. Benefits are competitive.

Kontras

No clear leadership from management. No team-building, company events or the like; you can become just a number here. Not much in the way of rewarding employees; they have yearly awards for top performers, but nothing throughout the year to acknowledge team or individual efforts. Very understaffed in non-managerial positions (extremely top heavy with senior- and mid-level management). Before the merger in 2012, the company was one of the best places I've ever worked, but that changed dramatically after the merger with a three-part series of layoffs over a 2-year period that absolutely killed morale and had a lot of people resigning. Overall, the company was a good place to work because of the people, but leadership leaves a lot to be desired. Your success here will be very dependent on what group you work for and how much they "like" you. Unfortunately, favoritism and over-valuation of certain employees and their roles overshadow the efforts of others.

Pros

Rational, problem-solving focused, and minimal interference in work.

Kontras

Can be pragmatic to the point of cold-heartedness. Due to being cost-focused, contract was significantly underbid and understaffed, leading to stretching of resources. Benefits are very minimal.
