Pros

The pay is decent, when management isn’t falsely putting you on Non-unit hours to try to save their in debt company money

Kontras

The toxicity of the work environment is like none other I have ever experienced. Management is miserable and goes above and beyond to make sure the crews are miserable as well. You will go to work and feel like you’re in a daycare / highschool. Management prides themselves in writing people up, starting investigations, and getting people in trouble for any and everything while they themselves, get away with murder. Traffic? 3 mins late? Write up. But let one of the supervisors leave the truck running, which is against company policy, have the truck stolen, no write up, no investigation, nothing. They pick and choose who to mess with and whom disciplinary actions apply too. They’ll smile in your face and talk about you the second you walk out the door. They play by their own rules and they dislike the Union. Working here is like walking on egg shells and the greatest stress I’ve ever experienced in life itself. It’s a detriment to one’s mental health and it will eventually take a toll. The employees are great, the Union is great, Managment is the true problem and the operation is run poorly and to the ground. Not a healthy work environment

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to hear about your experience, and this does not describe the culture we strive to maintain at AMR. We have shared this with the team and want to remind you that AMR has an open-door policy, where employees are encouraged to reach out to management when needed. You can also reach out to your HR representative to further discuss your concerns or request support in navigating conversations. In a recent survey of employees in the DC Operation, employees highly recognize the expectations of their job. This is a direct result of management communicating those expectations and continuing to reinforce and coach on them. AMR and the Union have worked together and successfully negotiated agreements since the Union’s start in DC. This reflects a relationship of mutual respect in honoring those agreements. The team remains committed to maintaining a successful relationship with the union and supporting our employees.

Pros

There’s a good workforce here with employees who are well united on issues a strong sense that the company is actually pushing toward a positive future in terms of operations. Ambulance fleet seems to be getting good upgrades and call volume (in most areas) is manageable. There is also a good amount of OT available with bonuses/incentives available. Matching 401k is nice and health benefits are very reasonable.

Kontras

For being such a large operation, the pay rate seems to be lacking as of right now. Most employees with adult responsibilities are having to rely heavily on overtime/incentives just to have a semi-comfortable lifestyle outside of work. Uniforms definitely need improvements and training for new EMTs seems a bit lackluster. The morale can be low at times also due to the company being write-up happy (for lack of a better term). Lack of 24 hour units and proper posting locations makes for a somewhat harsh work day as well.
