Pros

Beautiful area, little to no commuter traffic, relatively high pay for the industry, and a good working relationship with allied agencies are reasons you might want to work here. There is a lot of autonomy here and plenty of opportunity for a diverse range of patients / calls.

Kontras

Due a protracted staffing shortage, it is common for us to to be FORCED to work more than 50% more hours than our base schedules. Full time employees are working anywhere from 60-80 hours per week on the regular. Also, there is almost zero promotional opportunity as a paramedic here. Most people who leave fall into one of several camps: 1. They get injured and subsequently medically retired. This happens most often to the 40 and over crowd. 2. They get hired by the fire department 3. They go back to school 4. They burn out and quit Stations are pretty nasty too

Pros

There’s a good workforce here with employees who are well united on issues a strong sense that the company is actually pushing toward a positive future in terms of operations. Ambulance fleet seems to be getting good upgrades and call volume (in most areas) is manageable. There is also a good amount of OT available with bonuses/incentives available. Matching 401k is nice and health benefits are very reasonable.

Kontras

For being such a large operation, the pay rate seems to be lacking as of right now. Most employees with adult responsibilities are having to rely heavily on overtime/incentives just to have a semi-comfortable lifestyle outside of work. Uniforms definitely need improvements and training for new EMTs seems a bit lackluster. The morale can be low at times also due to the company being write-up happy (for lack of a better term). Lack of 24 hour units and proper posting locations makes for a somewhat harsh work day as well.
