Pros

Experienced leadership teams. Clear goals, objectives and communication from leadership. Company rewards those with initiative, no favoritism here. Actively encourage self improvement, proactive environment. Supervisors train rather than chastise, and listen rather than rant and participate rather than watch. Hands down the most positive culture in EMS today. Many companies preach “do the right thing” AMR Napa puts their money where their mouth is. Employees with poor attitudes are not given long leashes at this company. Offers 12 and 24 hour shifts. Good to great benefits based on how you chose, the option is yours. One huge plus is this is a non union operation, employee representation is not required here because leadership lives by “do the right thing”.

Kontras

Napa AMR doesn’t pay as much as some of the surrounding agencies but it’s close enough and none of the surrounding agencies can compete with the culture here. Depends on what’s more important to you, a little more money? “or” more growth as a team member and professional care provider.

Pros

There’s a good workforce here with employees who are well united on issues a strong sense that the company is actually pushing toward a positive future in terms of operations. Ambulance fleet seems to be getting good upgrades and call volume (in most areas) is manageable. There is also a good amount of OT available with bonuses/incentives available. Matching 401k is nice and health benefits are very reasonable.

Kontras

For being such a large operation, the pay rate seems to be lacking as of right now. Most employees with adult responsibilities are having to rely heavily on overtime/incentives just to have a semi-comfortable lifestyle outside of work. Uniforms definitely need improvements and training for new EMTs seems a bit lackluster. The morale can be low at times also due to the company being write-up happy (for lack of a better term). Lack of 24 hour units and proper posting locations makes for a somewhat harsh work day as well.
