    More thoughtful than a lot of start-ups. Very intentional with moves the business makes and how we approach problems/processes

    Pros

    It all starts with the product. SC has the best engineers developing a solution light years ahead of the competition. The leadership is passionate, exceptionally smart and committed. The culture is collaborative and supportive at every level. Do you best work everyday and you will be rewarded professionally and personally.

    SC is a typical late stage start up. Lots of growth and with that comes change. Mistakes will happen and be ready to learn from them and even lead the change. Leave your ego and negativity at home and you will be successful.

    Beautiful view of the bridge, snacks are plentiful, lunch on Wednesday, massages on Thursday, commuter benefits

    As some of the other reviews mentioned, HR is terrible. They have no idea what they are doing. Only upside of HR is that they are friendly, but that is to make up their lack of skills and abilities. Socialchorus is a communication platform, but there is clearly a communication issue within the company. If the company cannot communicate with other departments, imagine how their platform is. It's interesting that... their motto is "every worker matters," but if that was the case, employees would get paid on time or even paid at all, ensure that the benefits are completed when they said it would be completed, ensure every new employee is aware of policies and procedures (by having every new employee read and agree to the terms), etc. With every startup, of course there are ups and downs, but Socialchorus is just one big mess. The cons definitely outweigh the pros. Find yourself another startup that stays true to their word.

    Invest in your employees and they will invest in the company. Make sure everyone is on the same page. If management all have different viewpoints, it's hard to see how the company will be successful.

    Programmers can work remotely. Some freedom to influence technical direction with caveats. Engaged development staff. Industry leader according to management.

    If you don't mind working on a communications platform for Fortune 500 companies, with weekly meetings which includes excessive hype, spinning vice into virtue, & weekly liberal political sermons (offices in San Francisco & Portland), then Social Chorus may be the place for you. A Stock devaluation occurred while I was there; meaning the company was de-valued by investors on their latest round. Yet... somehow the management made it sound like a good thing during the all-hands meeting. Codebase is in poor shape. Development staff is mediocre & pressed with aggressive schedules that seem to slip. Tough place to be in for an organization, since there is much feature work to be done to sell, sell, sell. Middle Management has an over-reliance on quantitative metrics while missing out on being innovative or having a "soul". Middle Management will say one thing & mean another (i.e. management preached us to "take risks" yet they heavily rely on the status quo with tech direction). It felt Orwellian. Middle Management is very political & does not take criticism well. You may lose your job if you say what you believe & it goes against tech direction. Middle Management plays games with employees & is not honest with intentions. Traps will be set up to make you look bad if you aren't on their good side. Better to keep your head down if you work there. Don't let "jokes" fool you, they are not your friend. I was not paid for over a month & a half when I first joined due to payroll SNAFU. A big deal was made about "unlimited vacation" at the company meeting, yet we were told 2 weeks was pushing it. Founder reminds me of John Legere & gets carried away to the point of not being professional. Drove for UBER & took a several month long trip to Russia, yet lectures us about working hard. He seems shady for some reason, but I don't know him.

    When somebody sees the world in a certain way & wants to impose that onto somebody else, that person rarely is willing to take any advise to the contrary. With that in mind, my advise is to take a look in the mirror & be mindful of confirmation bias.

    Don't insult your employees. Provide feedback when it's due, don't build 'kill files' on your employees. Don't lie to your customers. And, for God's sake, don't promote backstabbers.

    Signed up with SocialChorus 2 years ago to start my corporate sales career. Since then, it's been a whirlwind ride. I feel like I've gotten 10 years of experience in the last 2. - I originally joined this company for the people, and the people continue to rock. They fit the sweet spot of 1) Smart 2) Ambitious and 3) Fun. - This is literally the best place to start a sales career. As an SDR, you'll get to sell... to the biggest companies in the world...in the process learning about lead gen, business strategy, and how to get sh#t done in big companies. - World-class comp package for sales. Don't sweat some of the negative reviews from salespeople on here. The product is competitive with our industry peers, and more importantly, the service organization is obsessed with getting our clients results. However, we've had some shifts in our product strategy/roadmap, which has allowed the people with bad attitudes to claim that we're not delivering on promises...a good salesperson wouldn't have promised specific features/dates in the first place. This is literally the perfect time to join. We're growing fast and have a MASSIVE slate of new features coming out that will make us a "must have" for our target market. At one point 6 months ago, I left the company for a promotion, and then came back because I missed the company. This is the real deal.

    It's a tough sale. We're the most expensive in a crowded market, and worth every penny, but it'll take you a while to ramp. You're going to need to be world-class at relationship building, process, business case building, and demoing. Not for the faint of heart or mediocre...but if you're really good, you can crush it.

    Keep chugging. Let's deliver on these new product features and take the market. It's ours to lose. Sales team has plenty of capacity, give the effective salespeople enough accounts to crush a big quota.
