    HungryGoWhere is a good, well-recognized brand; and there are/were sufficient talented, dedicated employees to build upon its brand strength and rightful place in the online world.

    Management remains oblivious to challenges faced with an excessive focus on today's bottomline. While revenue generation deserves to take precedence, many other aspects are willfully ignored or dumbed down without considering what HGW can achieve beyond $$$. On-the-ground team input is often laughed away and sniggered at - especially by HungryGoWhere CEO - creating an unappreciated and toxic environment. Mass... departure of key team members over the last 12 months can be attributed directly to him, with little focus on developing talent at hand except for making scapegoats. HR, CEO and upper management continue to bury their heads in sands believing that they were "voluntary departures" rather than elbowed out, disgusted by the poor treatment received. The message is clear: you are dispensable and easily replaceable by interns on short contracts. In an ever-evolving online world, SingTel and HungryGoWhere are still firmly rooted in a numbers-only business and refuse to move with the times.

    Rat an das Management

    Remove caustic and egotistical personalities such as the CEO and line managers who are all about self-preservation in their cushy positions. Start listening to differing voices focusing on the generational shift and break ill-fitting traditions. Product enhancements do not equate to innovation, revenue is no solitary measure of success and that your workforce is your strategic asset.

    Pros

    SingTel (as a company) is a fair employer and they do try to practice a work/life balance. HGW as a product is enjoyable to work on and there is always plenty of food. The team works well together and tries to help each other out.

    Kontras

    Bad management, namely the new CEO (as of June 2016) who manages by fear, naming and shaming in order to bully employees into going with his direction. Would be acceptable if he had new (& good) ideas that moved the revenue meter but he doesn't. Micro manages (but claims not to) and speaks very disrespectfully to all, however does not tolerate any level of criticism or disagreement. In short he likes YES men and... will pick on you till you become one.

    The people are amazing. Hardworking, smart, and they care about their colleagues. Eye opening and educational about the food and media industries. Amazing food, everybody shares, fantastic place to work in if you love food.

    Current CEO is toxic. Avoid at all cost. Arrived a quarter ago and said he will just observe and learn the ropes for a while, but within his first week he has yelled at almost everyone in the small team, tried to find blame for all things he deems wrong on the site, does not listen to subordinates, laughs at suggestions at brainstorming meetings. Constantly skips over people's job scopes, micro manages his staff,... yells and insults people using words like "stupid", "lame", "lazy", etc., is a cheapskate who stopped team meetings and teambuilding activities because they cost time and money, expects people to work overtime everyday and show face in office. Multiple people have left within the last quarter. In replacement they seem to be just thinking of hiring interns. Staff is demoralized.

    Large system with AWS services: EC2, VPC, S3, Route53, RDS, CloudWatch, etc... Good mentors from Singapore. Good environment.

    Pros

    Very friendly colleagues, generally young or middle-age people, big office with open environment. Good work-life balance, hardly see people OT. Have good bonding activities and many chances to interact with people.

    Kontras

    Relatively smaller company, still growing, probably not a lot of chance of advancement for ambitious people, some routine works can be quite dry, not many learning opportunities for interns.

    They are trying their best to be google or yahoo; hence the free food , drinks and nice environment. forward looking with little capacity at execution

    those who have ivy league degrees find it difficult to survive here, i'm referring to at least 3 examples. those with subpar degrees who like to spend a lot of time rubbing shoulders, drinking coffee and wearing ridiculous clothes, might do well. they will do well to cut the latter 70% of employees, do some work and get some progress..
