    Great working environment - very social and team orientated

    Exec team make decisions without fully understanding implications on the business and people
    Disconnect between what is being said and the reality / resources being invested in to deliver the strategy successfully
    Loyalty is not rewarded

    - Onsite gym
    - Generous discount on brands
    - Lovely offices
    - Great colleagues
    - Lots of benefits, should you be interested (Cycle to work, Denplan, etc.)
    - Flexible working arrangements available

    It used to be a great place to work, but has sadly lost its way. It's now a very frustrating place to work. There is no single vision, everyone is pulling in separate directions. It felt like change for change sake rather than improvement.

    There are development opportunities if you're lucky enough to get on with your boss, otherwise forget it! Lots of favouritism goes on here. I was treated very well, but my colleagues didn't seem to have the same opportunities.

    Gossip is rife! At all levels of the business! Leads to lots of miscommunication...

    Finally, wages are a joke compared to industry standards. We're told great benefits make up for it, but if you don't use them, that's not much consolation.

    Exec team - Decide where you want to be 5, 10, 15 years from now. Decide this behind closed doors. Define the plan of how you'll get there, create the programme of works and then create your communications plan and stick to it (changing only if the environment calls for it, not because it seems like a good idea at the time). One message from the exec team, not everyones interpretation of the plan. Be transparent, people value honesty even if they don't like the message.

    You've lost good, loyal people. You can get them back and you can be great again.

    Pros

    Extremely creative place to work with great people focusing on brand building.
    Working at Pentland feels like being part of a family, with opportunities to work across functions, brands and teams globally.
    Positive wellbeing is encouraged with gym classes, networking events and flexible working.
    Senior leaders engage and inspire through regular presentations, communications and collaborative sessions.
    Having worked at various companies I’ve never been somewhere so welcoming, from the gatehouse to the CEO.
    The Chairman also spends a day with new starters to share the company history and amazingly remembers everyone’s name.
    Finally, the work produced internally by the Creative team for the brands & company is inspiring and great to be a part of.

    Needs more agile working across the business for more efficient projects, there has been a lot of pressure during the last quarter. Although starting to see a shift and more focus on this heading into 2018.

    Multinational company, matrix structure, great brands, vision, excellent facilities (free parking, postal services, indoor gym and swimming pool, outdoor tennis court)

    Salaries are low, canteen food quality is generally (very) low, north London/not close enough to the high street/restaurants

    Completely incompetent executive team, with inadequate skills and risk appetite to be successful in such a competitive market. Added to that they think they are above being accountable for decisions and let the teams doing the work take the fall for their poor decision making. Also, sadly being good at your job isn’t appreciated, which leaves you completely demotivated and funnily enough want to leave. The high staff turnover reflects it ( even with a restructure underway )

    Stop running the brands into the ground and start treating it like a real business. It’s important to be efficient, but years of cost cutting have left you with an under invested back office which will prevent you from being successful. You must speculate to accumulate, that’s the reality of business. Stop being cautious about the things that don’t matter and stop taking unnecessary risks where they do. If you don’t, you won’t have a business for very long. Start appreciating the people that actually do the work.
