    Good work life balance, CEO is amazing.

    Slow at getting things done. Management keeps talking about Agile and Cloud, but challenging to get such things implemented at the company given the environment. Cybersecurity team is horrible. They put all kinds of gates to not get things done, as in they bring up all the reasons to not deploy applications on cloud, but never give solutions to actually mitigate the risk they bring up.

    When I worked at PG&E the technology in the systems had glitches and was not up to date and made simple tasks harder to complete in an administrative role. As I was on my way out, it did seem they were trying to get better systems in place.

    -Benefits (health care, time off, 401k match)
    -Work-Life Balance (company has generous family leave policies)
    -Relatively stable industry (everyone needs electricity...)
    -Easy to move around and try something new

    Kontras

    -Low salaries compared to other bay area companies for the same position
    -Incompetent leadership (most departments are just desperate to retain people, so they promote whoever is left but they are not necessarily the best candidate for the job)
    -No perks: free lunch, team events, etc. (company is trying to cut spending but losing talent at the same time because people are fed up with the lack of respect.)
    -You have to apply for your promotion. Leadership already knows who they want for the promotion but they ask others to apply for it. That way they can comply with HR rules to interview multiple candidates. This usually leads to employees scared from ever applying for these roles and left feeling like a pawn.

    You have lost the respect of your employees. Your frugality has led to people leaving the company for better opportunities or to retire early. Get rid of the bad apples, most of the employees just hang around for the good benefits but they don't care about their jobs or don't want to keep up with change. PG&E has lost their vision.

    For anyone considering applying for a job here, DON'T DO IT! SAVE YOURSELF!

    Working at PG&E is important and rewarding. We love our community, safety is always on top of our list, but learn how to incorporate fun. We work with a lot of smart people who care and believe in the company, it’s mission and vision. To avoid burn out or complacency employees deserve some rewards and recognition. It doesn’t have to cost much, or anything at all. Find a way to incorporate more fun activities more often, not just during our Campaign for the Community season.

    Keep up with the innovation. It’s about time we get to work with the latest and greatest software and tools to help make our work easier and efficient. Listen to your employees and act. Small steps, but some good upgrades and changes are in the future, I’m looking forward to it.

    Pros

    Management was great. Everyone was so easy to work with. Almost every project I was given as an intern was impactful and meaningful. I really learned a lot about the company from everyone on my team as well as my manager and supervisor.
