Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Ogilvy Public Relations gearbeitet (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

Many wonderful, talented, smart, hard-working colleagues.

    Kontras

Management was truly terrible - from HR to senior group leaders. It led to massive turnover in staff. Horrendous work/life balance. It was very different from the other office cultures in OPR across the US.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Ogilvy Public Relations gearbeitet (Über 8 Jahre)

    Pros

    - The Ogilvy name will help get you future jobs.
    - They have some good benefits like Summer Friday, Close for 1 week during Christmas
    - The people are great. Not sure about upper management.

    Kontras

    - They rarely give out raises. It's nearly impossible to get a raise unless you are upper management. It's confusing on how someone can get a raise.
    - You will work lots of hours.
    - Not a lot of work/life balance.
    - They used to have happy hour and other fun events but have removed several of the benefits that made the culture great to work at.
    - They used to have awards for the best employee but now they switched it for employees that brought in new business. And most of the compliments for that winner is how they worked 60 hours plus and during the weekends.
    - The salary that you get with them is lower than other companies.
    - High turnover. People realize that it's good to work at Ogilvy to build up their resume and then after a year or so. Go to another company where they can earn much more.

    Rat an das Management

Give out raises and bring back events to bring employees together. Happy Hour can't be that much to fund

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Ogilvy Public Relations gearbeitet (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

Learned a lot during my time here, whether or not most of it was from being relied on for extensive administrative work
    Decent training
    Big agency

    Kontras

Was not given one writing opportunity during my tenure
They hire you if you are "moldable" rather than based on what you can bring to the table and your personality
You have no chance of getting promoted under two years and there is hardly any room for growth
Toxic work environment where senior leaders do not lead by example, will micro-manage you, not give you any independence, steal credit for themselves
    Horrible HR support
    No work-life balance

    Rat an das Management

Hire better senior-level people who can actually provide mentorship to your juniors. Don't forget your junior level staff will one day be the leaders of the company, so invest in them! Bring back the fun perks that once existed.

    Keine Meinung zu Geschäftsführer

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Ogilvy Public Relations gearbeitet (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

Was empowered in a junior-level role to manage clients and execute campaigns allowing me to learn quickly and grow in my career. I would recommend to other entry-level PR pros who are looking to learn and advance quickly, but not as a long-term career prospect.

    Kontras

Experience varied dramatically depending on your supervisor. Some incredible leaders and path-blazers. No work-life balance. Ogilvy PR was in a hiring freeze at this time which also limited the ability to compensate and promote staff appropriately.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Ogilvy Public Relations gearbeitet (Über 3 Jahre)

    Pros

The clients were really great and I loved my team. My manager fought for me to get a bonus and a promotion. Hard work, but really smart people.

    Kontras

If you don't have someone to fight for you, you will not get a promotion or raise
The industry in general has terrible hours and low salaries, not just specific to this company, but it leads to a lot of turnover.

    Rat an das Management

Try to reward those that work hard and do great work before they are ready to leave.

„Considered a joke of an office in the Ogilvy network”

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Ogilvy Public Relations gearbeitet (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

    Global network
    High profile clients
    Dog friendly office
    Office colors
    Company philosophy
    Company history
    OK benefits
Great opportunities if you can make it (travel, client pitches, etc)

    Kontras

    Glorifies type A personality
High learning curve without in-depth training
HR is overwhelmed and do not have the experience to deal with sensitive issues/workplace hostility
Scapegoating management (they’re never at fault)
Uncaring and jaded management (listens but no issues get resolved)
    On edge, egotistic coworkers
Archaic proprietary software with unfriendly UX
Unwillingness to help or empower each other
    High turnover
    Overworked is the norm
Open space design doesn’t work for this office
Horrible company parties (no budget and team bonding is painful)
Middle management needs more people management skills/training
    Low pay

    Rat an das Management

To practice a philosophy that anyone is replaceable is horrible. You promote the wrong people and fire the amazing people that keeps the office united and sane. This office is considered a joke in the Ogilvy network and the reasons are clear - the lack of leadership, low margins of revenue, little to no awards, and bad client service. The office also needs more diversity in ideas. Invest in your employees, get better HR reps, advocate for your direct reports, and try to grow your teams by empowering them to think big picture.
