The strong core values & benefits help us manage our work / life balance. Being recognized for a job well done, or rewarded for going above & beyond, or the employee appreciation days, HUB is a great place to feel appreciated while you learn and evolve your skill set.

    Pros

    * Warm welcome from management who made the effort to stop by and welcome the new member of staff

    *Being introduced to the team and given a guided tour of the office and the essential areas

    *Inclusive culture and supporter of work/life balance clearly demonstrated in the first week

    *Staff helpful and attentive to get a new hire settled in the new environs

    *Most staff met during the first day detected that I was new to the organization and gave me a great HUB welcome

    *One does note require a laptop to work remotely - there is an easy sign-on

    *IT team very responsive and timely

    *The workday paper work was sent ahead of my arrival at the firm and this is an efficient way for the new hire to fill out personal information in a private setting at home and making one being able to focus on setting up to be productive rather than filling in HR forms on the first day.

    *My manager has a team meeting every Monday morning that sets the tone for the week. Each team member shares what is on their agenda for the week.

    *Welcome message from the HR person who was your contact during the hiring process greatly helps as it gives it a personal touch to the experience

    *Being surprised with a birthday gift from a colleague two weeks after being on the job was a very considerate and thoughtful gesture.

    *My desk was not completely made ready for me, it had documents from the person who previously occupied it

    *New hire training was scheduled days after I arrived on the job and after I had
      already gone through the teething pains of setting up my computer and phone.

    *The culture of an organization is felt on the first work day, it is important to make the new hire feel as though you are expecting them and that you are truly happy they are joining your team as this creates a great first impression.

    *New hire instructions to set up computer and phone should be on the desk the day the new hire arrives, then training by conference call can be done after on other areas of the organization

    *Having a formal basic training plan so the new hire can expect what is to happen each day would help and be a more organized approach to learning.

    *Being in an unfamiliar surrounding on the first day and not knowing anyone nor necessarily where to go, it would have been helpful if a team member was assigned (buddy) to accompany the new hire to lunch as part of the welcome strategy and getting the new hire familiar with the area

    Pros

    Flexible work environment. My immediate supervisor was great.

    Kontras

    No raises but excellent reviews. No mention of no raise until I asked about it. Bonuses were nothing even when helping producer write and retain a lot of business.

    Upper management needs to realize that not providing a pay increase good people will leave.

    TERRIBLE Benefits. Nearly every employee is shocked at the level of benefits a company that boasts of it's success provides. In the place of benefits, we are given "carrots" like "healthy living tips" and healthy lunches every now and again. But, when your loved one needs surgery... you realize how bad the benefits you have actually are.

    Don't boast about being one of the largest INSURANCE brokerages in the world, and then give us TERRIBLE BENEFITS. We sell our clients better insurance plans than you provide to us. It's embarrassing.

    Many of the people who work there are great.

    Kontras

    Very cheap employer: they pay as low as they can and only pay more when you have another offer. They don't provide much in terms of benefits. Trust is low. They flout the law in a couple of instances re: vacation pay.

    I’ve been an agent going on 21 years. I’ve owned multiple agencies & have had the privilege of being a part of many situations giving me great opportunities. Due to a relocation, I’ve decided to step down to a lesser stressful role. This company has been the best decision I’ve made. Management allows me some flexibility with my time & freedom to run my book as I see fit. They have great benefits & paid schooling to further my insurance knowledge! I highly recommend to anyone looking for a new opportunity.
