    KDB is great fun
    People are friendly
    Nice to work on a team

    Kontras

    You have to use Windows and other Microsoft products
    Corporate firewall can be annoying when trying to do research. Not a fan of being babied like that.
    Sorting out expenses is a hassle and waste of time

    If you hire me, trust me to be working at work. If I'm watching a youtube video it's probably an info video on a potential solution, not lolcats.
    I don't want to be thinking about remembering my lunch receipts at work. Put £10 on my daily rate and leave it at that, don't make me waste my time filling in online spreadsheets and numbering old receipts. Waste of company time.

    Pros

    - Opportunity for grads to get experience in finance - FD have a lot of big named clients (Morgan Stanley, RBS, Barclays, HSBC, Bank of America to name a few).
    - Possibility of travel - FD have clients in a lot of major cities (London, New York, Singapore, Boston, Toronto, Dublin, Hong Kong, Tokyo etc).
    - Good expenses package - They pay for all accommodation and travel while on-site.

    Kontras

    - Highly unprofessional management - Could be here all day with this one.
    - Zero say over where you go or what job you'll be doing - you are seen as a resource to make them money and nothing else. It is a complete lucky dip as to whether you end up on a good or terrible project.
    - Cattle mart - They take on such a huge amount of graduates each month that it can feel like a cattle mart at times.
    - High turnover rate - The majority of experienced employees leave after 3/4 years when they become too expensive for their business model.
    - Possibility of being stuck in Newry with no expense benefits.

    - Focus more on retaining experienced employees - I really struggle to see how the current revolving-door business model is sustainable in the long run.

    - Hire more managers - There is a very flat organisational structure that needs to change, too many entry level employees and not enough managers.

    - Shake off the cowboy feel about the company.

    Pros

    It's an Irish company, so lots of subsidized drinking events.

    Kontras

    The business model is to hire Irish kids straight from university, pay them low wages, and staff them into banks at a healthy profit. It's worked for nearly 20 years, except now US visas are harder to secure, and London-based banks have stopped staffing in the UK due to Brexit.

    So if you are Irish and thinking of joining this company to travel the world, you can expect to do transaction monitoring in Poland.

    If you are a US citizen, you can almost certainly find a better place to work. They claim to be a consultancy, but they are most certainly a staffing agency. If you join, expect to be pressured into taking a role you don't want by a napoleonic sales guy in a polyester suit.

    expense program even when you are not a graduate neither you´re working abroad from your office.

    - HHRR - Assigning people to roles in projects without taking into account what people do or prefer. They offer you projects somewhere you don´t want and usually they don´t care if your profile has nothing to do with the role.
    - FD provides you lot of instability, maybe it is fine if you are a graduate and can travel or get your plans changed from one day to another.
    -Lot of arbitrary decission depending on who you are. A company rule can be different between two people with same experience seated next to each other.
    - FD hires IT profiles for short projects and then, after it ends, they realized that they don´t need that profile anymore so you stay long periods on the bench or you are fired.
    - HR are never clear and transparent. They can "change their mind" from one day to another expecting you are ok with that.
    - There is no management at all in projects.

    Friendly staff, great CV looker, good expenses, nights out with the time are usually good old crack and are available every month

    Kontras

    HR can improve, housing can be touch and go! However there aren't much cons, will try there best for you

    Pros

    A lot of the negative reviews below are either exaggerated, inaccurate or coming across as a little entitled.

    From the beginning the staff at HQ is very hands-on and invested in its graduates under the Capital Markets CMTP programme. Its intense and frustrating but it imitates real life scenarios and teaches graduates to be thick skinned. To succeed in the corporate world graduates have to be able to take criticism, work under pressure and learn to adapt to challenges. At the end of the day its all about resilience....you'll soon find whether the job is right for you once you start the training programme.

    FD provides employees (who have little to no experience) the opportunity to work for the largest investment banks around the globe. They arent afraid to take a risk on their graduates and push them when they see potential. You have to be ready for the challenge because it can be sink or swim but the support is there if you ask for it. At the end of the day FD's reputation is on the line and they wouldnt take the risk if they didnt see the potential.

    FD expenses package is next to none. Compared to other consultancy firms like PWC or Deloittes it is on a different level. As an FD emoloyee the only thing you have to worry about is showing up to work and making a good impression. Everything else is taken care of.

    Furthermore once you graduate, hard work is recognised with a generous bonus. A performance and salary review takes place every year. This level of generosity isnt the norm having spoken to people from different industries. The earning potential at FD is huge for those who are proactive and especially those who seek training in trading applications like Murex or Calypso.

    The FD social life is one of the things that sets this firm apart. You can genuinely find a 2nd family in FD and everyone is facing the same challenges so there is always someone to talk to.

    Unfortunately some graduates feel entitled and expect the firm to give them the best accommodation, the best jobs and try to exploit the expenses system. At the end of the day a person has to work for what they get. If you're great at building relationships, networking and working hard you'll reap the rewards.

    I've had a brillaint experience with FD. It had its highs and its lows like any job but its taught me how to succeed in the corporate world and I have a lot of respect for the company and the people that work there. I have no doubt the firm will continue to grow and hire the best graduates.

    Coming from a non-finance and non-I.T background getting to grips with the subject matter was very difficult. And more so, was having the confidence and self-assurance to get stuck into a new role.

    The onboarding process when joining client site is frustrating. Sometimes you'll have 48hrs notice and sometimes it takes 6-9 weeks. This isnt something staff at HQ can control. My advice to employees is don't take it personally or think its appropriate to spam HQ's inbox for an update.

    People come and go in FD so you have to be willing to move, have the ability to make new friends and have the confidence in your abilities.

    The firm is becoming more adept at matching its employees with the right role in terms of skill sets and personal attributes...I think this is the right direction. Other than that, keep doing what you're doing! You're doing great!
