    Pros

    Company vehicle, tools, workwear, pension.

    Kontras

    As a Field Engineer, the early days were quite good 2000 - 2013. From 2014, the emphasis was on solving customer's issues with excellent service. From 2014 the role (in my opinion) became more focussed on selling. As a result, the job became more pressured, longer hours, more stress and the threat of disciplinary action if sales targets were not attained.

    Great campus, nice people, great opportunities, cool tech, fast decisions and actions

    Kontras

    A lot of middle management screams of being promoted out of "last man standing"attitude as well as speed of growth. Looks like they are all being pushed out slowly though

    Keep pushing the values the company was built on and remember there are other companies out there that have had the same problems. Wrong thinking doesn't mean reinventing the wheel

    Pros

    - Every project would have some element or assemblies with different technologies, or different designs. This allows you to explore and compare differences between different mechanism/design to achieve a certain function.
    - There are quite some flexibility for you to explore how to study the problem and propose a solution.
    - Benefit/Welfare generally quite good.
    - Heavy emphasis on product performance

    Kontras

    - Some manager might micro-manage you.
    - When there are request from the biggest boss, it would be top urgent.
    - Being a company with considerable size, there are some politics with upper management.

    I see no pros to working for this inconsiderate company

    The company and the leaders don't care about their staff. Salaries are paid month in arrears. Contracts are worded to protect the employer. When leaving the company,takes 2 months to provide a P45. HE department doesn't care. Unresponsive

    Sort out your HR department. Make things clear to staff,and get people who care about people to do your salaries and paperwork.

    Not commission based
    Sharing information with the public about Dyson Technology, if you like talking to people and are good at relationship selling this job is for you.
    Ability to make in a two days what you would make at many 5 day a week part time jobs
    401K with good match

    Opportunity for advancement is limited, best mindset is to view this as a part time opportunity
    Bonus plan exists but rarely achieved, think of any bonuses received as perk
    Often very slow to provide supplies needed to be in compliance with dress code and theater set up

    Hire a coordinator to handle the needs of the demonstrators and get them the supplies they need in a timely manner. Allow Demonstrators to order their own supplies and then just have managers approve.

    Pros

    Work life balance is generally good - many employees start at 8am and finish at 4:30pm.
    Casual dress code makes the working environment more relaxed.
    Inflation based pay rises each year.

    Kontras

    IT has it's 3rd CIO/Global Director in less than 3 years - lots of changes in direction and uncertainty.
    Very hierarchical, with lots of micromanagement.
    A bit of an old boys club, where if your face fits you can advance very quickly, but most are completely unable to advance.
    Very trigger happy with HR processes including firing staff, the turnover is very high. Within 6 months most of the C-Suite were removed.
    Very untrusting company, where everything you do is monitored in detail, everything is secretive.
    Increasingly lots of redundancies. Recently across IT, Procurement, Contact Centres.
    Pay is quite low versus the industry averages. Aside from the good inflation based pay rise, actually pay rises due to great work or promotions are hard to come by.

    Focus on raising morale and productivity by ending uncertainty, provide clear progression paths, and get middle management out of their way!

    Pros

    Great incentives to push performance (gift cards, lunches, hotel stays, products). Not a American work culture atmosphere. Totally laid back, no rules, guidelines, or structure. As long as you come to work and do what you are compensated for you have a job. The management team try to make a fun environment for everyone. Very flexible, perfect for someone who is in school or have other commitments.

    Not an even playing field for everyone. Company prides themselves on promoting from within based off of performance. This is far from the truth! Promotion with in this company is based off of favoritism and who's who in the "management clique".
    Also (majority)of management team members are under developed as leaders, this being most of their first position in management. This is particularly the reason why the Dyson work culture is a "Free for All" environment, where the employees do whatever they want.

    Develop talent with in organization first. I don't understand why a company would seek out candidates for positions outside of the organization, before the opportunity is given internally.
     Example: most of the digital team members are hired externally, they have no knowledge on products. But its expected for them to successfully troubleshoot a customer's machine via chat? That's ridiculous!
    Also you have a Quality and Training Manager who will only hire externally, and all members of her team are of the same hue as she, definitely questionable!

    The people, the location's lovely: a Michelin starred chef doing the canteen menu

    The entire company operates on James Dyson's view that you should sacrifice yourself for his Company... easy to say when you're a Billionaire, less so when what you do is to make ends meet.

    HR's role is to "keep it quiet" for Dyson PR, rather than support the people who work for the company

    Most of the senior management have been at Dyson for years and don't know how any other companies operate...

    Empower your reports and trust them to define and own their direction choices....coach, guide and support. Avoid top down direction and weed out micro-management. Assess your middle managers in RDD for their ability to be good managers, not just technical authorities (they both matter!)
