    Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Dyson gearbeitet

    Pros

    Great opportunities to do so much! In all of my roles in Dyson I felt extremly lucky to have worked on excellent projects with some really talented people. People really do make that place! If youre in the right team, everything great! Great brand on your CV, plus the products are really exciting even though they are just vacuum cleaners, hair dryers etc...

    Lack of transparency
    -Lack of empathy
    -Someone pulled the strings for certain employees in the business (only conclusion I can come to!) despite the fact those employees were causing others distress, being disrespectful, and no one did anything about it, inc HR and SLT
    -Lack of work/life balance - its the norm to work 60 hrs a week in certain teams and its frowned up on if you dont respond to emails at 11pm
    -a few cocky loud voices in the team (favourites becase they shout louder) make it harder for the others to progress

    Rat an das Management

    Learn how to praise people. Sometimes a simple thank you is enough...
    -Be transparent with people, if you are sacking someone be honest about it, dont do it and go silent forever, people arent stupid to not notice whats happening
    -reward people with words, bonuses, salary increases, better discounts, better flexibility hours
    -trust your people, in return they will deliver far more
    -appreciate people, dont treat them like they are so easy to replace, dont make them feel worthless

    Pros

    Innovative company that has always been bold in taking risks and is not afraid of venturing into new technologies and making headlines. Brexit views aside of course, James himself is an admirable figure who emulates this culture. The infrastructure feels more like a campus than an office building, with the Dyson university campus, cafes, sports centre which creates a dynamic atmosphere. Work is often fast paced, rewarding and varied. Earlier finish on the Friday is greatly welcomed. Sports centre is fantastic, with free gym membership, sports and classes with amazing staff. Agile/Flexi working is available, which is a modern approach.

    Recognising great work and promoting the right people. Not enough fight to keep their best assets. Business is constantly boasting fantastic numbers, yet the business is not paying a lot of employees enough compared to other firms.

    Always keep the to the Dyson principles. Recognise the best employees and do more to keep them happy.

    Exciting new product launches, ability to move departments, given a lot of responsibility quickly so easy to learn new skills

    Kontras

    Expected to hit extremely aggresive goals set by global leadership but do not receive resources or training needed to do so. Very poor work life balance. Expect to have a full email inbox by the time you get in at 8am on Monday.

    Staff discount and the gym.

    The middle management are there on time served rather than any form of merit. They block the escalation of actual issues that need addressing at a higher level and spend their time creating nice PowerPoint presentations to show the senior mgmt that everything is hunky-dory instead of the truth. I suspect many of them got a job there when it still a small company and now have no clue as to how a global company should operate.
    There is also a VIP culture there and the same middle mgmt hold the senior mgmt in such reverence that you're often told not to say something as so and so is a VIP.

    To senior management, I'd say set aside time to adopt a real open door policy to hear from the coal face.
    Value your support staff. There is a common feeling of being a necessary evil if you don't make things that whizz or pop.

    Pros

    Amazing products, brand and culture. Flexible working arrangements allows a great work/life balance. The people are great and always willing to help wherever they can.

    Parking can be an issue, although a new app freeing up spaces that are not being utilized on any given day has eased this a little.

    Pros

    Fast paced environment with great people. It feels as though you can make a different and influence key business decisions. Open and honest culture. The MD as well as senior leaders are upbeat and inspiring and have an open door policy. Feels as though it is a flat structure even though it is a global business.

    Great product pipeline and heaps of scope to progress career in Australia and globally.

    As this business has grown so quickly in Australia, there has been a need to evolve the business model. Part of this has meant that some people have left and there are quite a few new faces. Sometimes its nice to speak to people who have been with a business for a long time as you get a different perspective on things.

    Now that you have a good team in place, do what its takes to retain and support them grow. Add additional employee benefits like discounted gym and wellness programs. A higher discount in Dyson product would be nice too
