    Pros

    Generally good vision
    Good teams generally across departments.
    Overall fair, if you are willing to work and compromise sometimes with your superior, you can usually get to a point that works best for both.
    Flexibility of hours, within reason the work-life balance is good.

    Kontras

    Politics and cliques in departments can isolate some staff and make for an unpleasant working environment.
    Favouritism can occur and it is often those favoured who move up the ladder or are given the bigger tasks.
    Managerial styles vary greatly and,again, this can make for a negative working environment.
    Managers are not monitored enough or trained properly and this can lead to unmotivated teams who do the bare minimum and lose sight of the customer focused vision of the company.
    Too many old staff who are stuck in their ways and are allowed to continue to do things the old way, with little input from a superior.

    Rat an das Management

    Innovation is key in order to grow. An upgrade of training, with regular upskilling and review will encourage staff to grow together and lessen the gap between old and new staff. A less laid back approach to managements training and input would also help. Encourage middle management to be more involved and to listen to their front line staff and take on board what they say. Genuinely good workers are being ignored and they have their ears to the ground in terms of what the customer wants.

    Pros

    1.Working Environment. Lovely People to work with (Your work colleagues, 1-2 of Management)
    2.Work life balance is one of the main Pros - weekends off, Mon- Fri working.
     3. 8.30am-5pm work days.
    4. Good for CV and experience, being one of the recognised employers with a support centre/head office in Taunton other than the NHS and Council its worth spending a min of a year here, or even the couple of months before Christmas where the department hire for temps for 3 months.
    5. 25% discount in stores, this is only if you are a perm member of staff. This is in the form of a credit card. Only 20% if you take out a preloaded gift card.
    6. Subsidised Restaurant on site, if you call it subsidised .

    1. Very little chance for promotion, no pathway for senior positions as someone would have to leave the department, this is very unlikely as management and senior team are too close nit and look out for only themselves.
    2. Advertises an early leave on pay day Friday only if you sacrifice lunches to do so
    3. High Turnover of staff, for £15,750 a year with the amount of responsibility, it doesn't take too long to understand the high turnover. No pay increases are available unless the NMW increases.

    I know getting the Debenhams cards is how you get paid but instead of hammering down on colleagues to get them, advise us on how to calmly approach the situation.

    Pros

    As a personal shopper it is very rewarding helping customers pick the perfect outfit and all the staff are lovely and so helpful.

    I didn't get much training as a personal shopper and the role and found i was left to do my own thing. This is especially tough when we have targets to meet each week and if clients haven't booked in with us we have to go out on the shop floor and try attract them to use the service
