Operations work is extremely redundant and can seem menial in light of the reality that you are cleaning up mistakes of people in the front office who you report to and are "unspokenly" subordinate to....and then there is the client side who are all buy side so yo have to cater to their needs and desires....operations within the structure of the firm is relatively bottom totem pole and the pay and respect given reflects that.
