    Pros

You can make good money if you get a good store.

    Kontras

TPM's do not truly care about your business as they always make the same 2 week paycheck and most Agency Operators make more than them. District Managers are your boss but yet they say you own your own business which does not make sense. Company always seems like they are unable to bring out more cars when needed but yet they always have the time to pull cars.....and you have to have cars to make money due to you make 12% commission. They require you to hire and pay your employees off your 12%.

    Pros

You create your own company and they employ your company to run the store. Hire and train your own staff. Paid commission based on total income of the store you are running. Push to grow your store and you make more money. The job is easy. Treat customers with respect and care about them and the business will succeed.

    Kontras

Because you own your own company, you need to buy your own insurance. TPM's. The performance managers in IL are terrible. They are your contacts with the company and they move cars to your location. They don't support you. They ridicule you if you contact them for help. And they only reach out to you if you did something wrong. You are often not even informed of new company policies or even billing and insurance changes until after they take effect. I had a great out look for this company, however over the past 2-3 years it has been getting worse and worse.

    Pros

None at this time...used to be a great company

    Kontras

There is no support for AO's. The contract states that Avis Budget will provide the equipment to do the job...guess what gang? In this business, equipment means cars and trucks! It's not brain surgery...you take almost 3% in commission pay away from our commission, ask us to acquire MORE new accounts, but can't properly provide adequate fleet to take care if existing customers. It's ALL a game for Wall Street. I have to wonder who's bonus is going to be padded as a result if taking $1500.00 + a month from my operation. There's a lot if empty promises and NO work/life balance.

    Pros

Low start up cost and good entry level business experience.

    Kontras

Very poor work/life balance. As a contractor You will be working 7days/week until You are successful enough to hire employees. Even then because of only 12% commission You are able to hire so many associates/managers that would allow You to step away from the business.. In reality - unless You have multiple (more than 3) stores and a good manager working for You - You are going to be constantly working. Poor fleet management by the company. Not enough cars in peak season. Too many corporate managers vs producers.

    Pros

    Getting to know your customers

    Kontras

If I could give ABG negative stars in all area I would. I've been in the business for a long time and it has been deteriorating year after year. If you've been in the business long it's extremely hard to get out because you've put so much time and effort into building your clientele, getting to know your customers, and ABG requires a minimum of a 3 month notice to leave which makes is extremely difficult to find a new opportunity because you're working 7 days a week and no company will wait 3 months to bring you on. ABG wrongly advertises this position as your "business." You are treated and dictated to as an employee. You have no say in the operation of your store, they control the store hours, rates, fleet movement, qualifications and micromanage every aspect of the business down to the reports completed and how they are filed. Even dictated we had to purchase red hanging files for our filing cabinets to keep reports in. They steal your customers and find ways to drive the business to corporate operated/airport locations by raising your locations rates more than double the airports rates, shutting down your location for reservations yet leaving the airport open for booking at very cheap rates, when you call customer service to book they push the airport locations and in many cases don't even acknowledge local market stores. The commission percentage is grossly insufficient you will be working 7 days a week. You may be able to barely afford a part time employee to help some, but corporate will come to your store when you're not there to try and recruit them to their airport locations. Many operators have family that help them run a store since they will work for free to support the business, but if you have no one to help you for free it's next to impossible. Even when you aren't at your store you are still working because your employee and corporate constantly emails or calls you. No benefits or perks of being partnered with ABG. Treat you like garbage and management is extremely hostile and threaten to terminate your agreement if you don't do as they say. Communicating with other operators is frowned upon to the level operators are scared to talk to each other because so many have been threatened to have their businesses taken away for talking to others or raising concerns such as previously stated ill business tactics. Management and the company in general is severely out of touch with the front line, how stores are operated, and how much effort operators put into the business. The are clueless to the business and little to no help. They never ask or care to hear any feedback from operators and when you try to provide it or make suggestions on ways to improve either you get no response, told to find another "job", or have your contract threatened.

    Pros

    - great for building interpersonal skills - you meet some great customers

    Kontras

    - work-life balance is extremely difficult. - long hours & weekends - If you do not have a great team, it's extremely difficult to provide cars for your customers. In the DFW area I ran a store for 2 years and I had a great distribution, a great DM & TPM, and the whole metroplex worked great together. In Little Rock, it was a nightmare and the only location that could ever get cars was the Air Port. No team work at all! - Benefits are awful - very hard to move up. your only option for management is to become an agency operator which you have use your own money to become.
